There’s no doubt it, the Waynesboro Warriors were one of the toughest teams the United Recreational Soccer League had to offer this fall.
The unbeaten Warriors — a co-ed group playing at the U11 level — cruised to a championship in URSL’s 34 White division, outscoring their opponents 45-5 in the process. But the Warriors weren’t done there, as they continued to dominate in season-ending URSL Tournament.
It was there that Waynesboro smashed three pool play opponents by a combined 15-0 score, before dispatching the SYA Leopards 8-0 in the championship game.
The Waynesboro Youth Soccer Association was also well represented by the Waynesboro Thunder, who won the division title in URSL’s 56 White Division with a 6-1-1 record before going 1-1-1 in the URSL Tournament.
Another youth soccer organization, the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League, saw four local champions get crowned, including three from the Chambersburg Youth Soccer Association.
The CYSA U16 Union captured the most prestigious title of the bunch, claiming CPYSL’s Division 1 crown with a 7-0-1 record. Chambersburg’s U14 Union Knights (7-0-1) won a Division 3 title, while the U11 Union (7-0-1) captured a title in Division 4.
Finally, the Penn Express FC U10 Knights won CPSYL’s Division 3-Blue with a 7-0-1 record.
