Bradyn Kuhn had an awful start to his day, but by the time the Greencastle driver clocked out of his shift at Path Valley Speedway on Sunday, he was standing atop his 270 sprint car celebrating a win.

Kuhn was facing adversity before the racing even started, as his car took damage in hot laps. Another car blew its engine and spun directly in front of Kuhn, leaving the MBK Motorsports team with a borken axle, front tire, and multiple radius rods.

Kuhn’s team went to work in the pits, and had an operational car for the heat race, which saw Kuhn take second. The team was still “turning wrenches” when it was time to check in for the feature.

Kuhn started the 21-car race in the third position and took the lead for good halfway through the race. He earned the victory over Fayetteville’s Cory Myers and Brent Shearer of Manheim, with Chambersburg’s Craig Myers landing in fourth place.

Kuhn wasn’t the only driver in the Local.News area to nail down victory at Path Valley. Chambersburg’s Parker Starr won the thunder cars feature over Fayetteville’s Cameron Defenderfer and Mapleton Depot’s Jake Shoup. Other area drivers competing in the thunders field include Chambersburg’s Kevin Bard (4th), Greencastle’s Tara Kerlin (11th), and Fayetteville’s Roger Traxler (14th).

Also of note from Path Valley: Fayetteville’s Cole Dewease placed fourth in the 600 sprints, which was won by Mikey Smith.

While Path Valley was able to have a successful Opening Day, Hagerstown Speedway was forced to postpone its weekend of racing due to inclement weather.

Below is a track-by-track, race-by-race look at how area drivers have performed in the region and beyond:
