MONT ALTO- The Penn State Mont Alto School of Nursing will host a Community Action Poverty (CAP) Simulation on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The simulation is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The CAP Simulation is designed to help people understand the realities of poverty. During the simulation, students from various disciplines role-play the lives of low-income families in diverse situations. They interact with community resources, such as health and human service agencies, grocers, pawnbrokers, bill collectors, job interviewers, mortgage consultants, police officers, and others.

The School of Nursing is inviting members of the community to participate as one of the “community resources.” Volunteers will have the opportunity to describe a very real challenge to our community. Currently, 12.1% of PA residents are living with poverty, while our nation has 11.5 %.

To volunteer, please sign up here by Friday, November 3: https://bit.ly/PSMApovertysim23

The CAP Simulation is a valuable opportunity for students and community members to learn more about poverty and how to work together to address it.
