HARRISBURG- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that closure has been scheduled on Route 997 (Anthony Highway) at a 4.75-mile resurfacing project in Quincy, Guilford, and Greene townships, Franklin County. The project limits are from the West Branch of Antietam Creek just north of Mont Alto Borough, through the Village of Pond Bank, to the intersection with Route 30.

Weather permitting, Route 997 will be closed on the north side of the intersection with Bikle Road at approximately 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, so a drainage pipe can be replaced. The road is expected to reopen by 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

A detour will be in place using Mont Alto Road and Route 30.

This is a resurfacing project which consists of full width milling, base repair, drainage replacement, guide rail updates, ADA curb ramp construction, asphalt paving, line painting, sign updates, and other miscellaneous construction on Route 997 from Mont Alto to Route 30.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $ 2,101,331 project. All work is expected to be completed by October 25, 2024.
