Interstate Maintenance: PennDOT to Begin Overnight Repairs on I-83 and I-81

HARRISBURG- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that a joint and crack sealing project is scheduled to begin next week on Interstate 83 in Dauphin County and Interstate 81 in Franklin County. 

Weather permitting, this work will begin Sunday, April 28. There will be two crews working nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. One crew will begin work on I-81 in Franklin County and the second crew will begin on I-83 in Dauphin County.

There will be rolling lane closures during work hours. Motorists should drive with caution and be alert for construction vehicles and workers.

Work is expected to be completed by July 10, 2024.

This work is part of a contract that includes joint and crack sealing on I-81 in Cumberland and Franklin counties, and I-83 and I-283 in Dauphin County.

Russell Standard Corporation of Pittsburgh, PA, is the contractor on this $364,665 project.
