Young participants learned all about snowflakes during a past Institute Wee Wonders program. A new series of Wee Wonder programs is scheduled this winter at Pine Hill Recreation Area, beginning January 18.

WAYNESBORO – The Institute is offering a new series of five outdoor nature programs for preschoolers in January and February.

Designed for children ages 2.5 to 5, the Wee Wonder programs will run on Thursdays, January 18 & 25, and February 1, 8, & 15 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area in Waynesboro, Pa. Registration for the full series is required.

Taught by Institute educators, age-appropriate program activities include exploring the outdoors, hikes, theme-related story books, rhymes, finger plays, nature games, crafts, songs, and puppets. Themes or topics include pine cones, winter sounds, deer and their habitat, and snow. Some sessions will include a campfire.

“Geared for our youngest budding naturalists, these programs are designed to inspire outdoor wonder as we embrace the colder temperatures,” said Kettie Leighty, Institute instructor.

Pre-registration for the full series and payment in advance are required by Jan. 15. The fee for all five programs is $40 for members of The Institute and $50 for the general public, per child. Limited to 15 children. Register online at www.NatureAndCultureInstitute.org
