MONT ALTO- Mont Alto Penn State recently hosted its annual MedCamp, a week-long day camp that introduces high-achieving 9th- and 10th-graders to medical careers with hands-on activities and field trips. This year’s camp has been a great success, with participants learning about health care and medical fields through a variety of engaging activities.

Throughout the week, campers have had the opportunity to learn about biology swabbing, occupational therapy, health assessments, detecting diseases, and veterinary nursing. They also took a field trip to Hershey Medical Center, where they were able to see firsthand the inner workings of a hospital and learn from medical professionals.

WellSpan Health is on campus to teach campers about diagnostic imaging, respiratory therapy, and more. This hands-on experience is invaluable for students who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.

MedCamp is just one of the many summer youth camps offered by Penn State Mont Alto. STEM Camp, for example, provides incoming 9th through 11th-grade students with hands-on experience in the fields of engineering, chemistry, programming, DNA profiling, and more.

Overall, MedCamp 2023 has been a great success, providing students with a unique and engaging opportunity to explore the world of healthcare and medical careers.
