WAYNESBORO—Students at Waynesboro Area Senior High School recently helped New Hope Shelter purchase new kitchen appliances.

It all started during Homelessness Awareness Week when WASHS counselor Beth Bair teamed up with the school’s National Honor Society on an annual project.

Under NHS advisor Katie Geesaman’s guidance, the students were able to raise $2,362 for the shelter.

“Thanks the NHS’ efforts, New Hope Shelter was able to purchase two refrigerators and a range for the shelter,” said New Hope Executive Director William Burcher. “We are very grateful to all the students who helped with this very generous donation.”
