GREENCASTLE—The Rotary Club of Waynesboro recently hosted the “Battle of the Minds” at Green Grove Gardens.

The annual event, held each fall to raise funds for local community organizations, includes a silent auction, live auction, cocktail hour, meal and the Battle of the Minds trivia game.

The game pits each table against others in a Trivial Pursuit-style game with multiple choice questions. When a question appears on the screen, each table has 10 seconds to choose their best answer and respond using an electronic remote.

The leader board is updated throughout the game and the winners leave with more than just pride—the winning team is awarded a cash prize.

Earnings from the night are split 50/50 with an annual co-sponsor. Each year, revenues range between $14,000 ad $26,000.

This year, about 190 contestants competed in teams, with a group from Savage Pharmacy winning the grand prize trophy and $800. Profits from the event will be split this year between the Rotary club and The Institute, which provides environmental and cultural history education to students and families.
