UPMC Magee-Womens Hospitals Honor Leap Year Babies

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospitals in Central Pa. celebrated the 2024 leap year babies dressed in one-of-a-kind UPMC Magee-Womens onesies. The health system welcomed 12 leap year babies in Central Pa., yesterday. These babies will celebrate their birthday once every four years, making it a unique and memorable occasion.

“At UPMC Magee, we celebrate every baby born,” said Kenneth J. Oken, M.D., chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology, UPMC Magee-Womens in Central Pa. “Babies are a reminder of love, life and hope . It’s a joy to celebrate them and a privilege to be given the responsibility to serve our communities.”

UPMC Harrisburg, UPMC Lititz, UPMC Memorial and UPMC Carlisle, all part of the UPMC Magee-Womens network, have been recognized as a 2023-2024 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) by U.S. News & World Report. In addition to the High Performing in Maternity Care recognition UPMC Carlisle also received a new recognition: Maternity Care Access Hospital. This designation recognizes hospitals that provide access to quality care for expectant parents – serving communities that would otherwise be considered maternity care deserts.

UPMC Magee-Womens provides the state’s largest network of top-rated maternity care. Across the hospitals with obstetric services, UPMC delivers close to 25,000 babies each year.
