WAYNESBORO- The Rotary Club of Waynesboro submitted the following club news:

John Ricca of the Institute for Retired People was a recent guest speaker.

John has served our Nation for 54 years, 22 years in the military and 32 years as a technical analyst. His specialties are in nuclear physics and health physics. He is retired but still consulting part-time.  John spoke on the Institute for Retired People in Chambersburg. The IRP was initially an informal gathering of retirees in Chambersburg acting as a get-together to discuss a range of topics. It evolved into a formal organization a few years later and established a home at Wilson College. Covid, combined with a growth in student population required a relocation to the Menno Haven Life Center.

The list of discussion and lecture topics is broad and fascinating. Zoom lectures are on Monday and Wednesday and in-person presentations take place on Tuesday and Thursday. March’s topics include The Aging Brain, The Constitution, Lincoln at Gettysburg, Radical Jihadist Groups, NATO and the war in Ukraine as well as a travel log about a 1958 trailer trip across Mexico. Obviously, subjects are an eclectic mix and there is something for all interests. A very minimal fee is required per semester for the in-person lectures.
