WAYNESBORO–Members of The Rotary Club of Waynesboro recently prepared gifts for residents at Abraxas Youth Center (AYS) in South Mountain.

“We just don’t feel it’s right that kids don’t get something for Christmas,” said Jason Piatt, the club’s lead for this activity.

But even with good intentions, the club was on the verge of tossing in the towel this year.

According to Piatt, supply chain problems struck at just the wrong time.  A book order came in late and volunteers had to work quickly to get the items wrapped.

Nearly two dozen Rotarians wrapped 230 books for 115 residents.

“We really enjoy doing this to bring some joy to kids who would otherwise be overlooked this time of yearm,” Piatt said.
