CHAMBERSBURG – Two businesses have made downtown Chambersburg their new home offering shopping and crafting options adding to an already booming area that has become a popular destination for locals and visitors.

Hammer & Stain Chambersburg has been in business locally since 2018, but recently has been purchased by new owners, Ashley Peters and Kyla Symonds. Hammer & Stain offers a large assortment of DIY projects from making chunky knit blankets to painting porch planks and designing decorative wreaths.

“We love the downtown community and love how it is growing! We loved the thought of adding a DIY experience for the downtown area,” Ashley Peters explained why they decided to move their location to downtown and opened their new doors on Nov. 18.

Sam Thrush, President of Downtown Chambersburg, Inc. agreed. “Hammer & Stain has been looking for a new location for a while now and we’re thrilled to add a DIY experience to downtown,” Thrush said. “My wife and kids did an activity during Small Business Saturday and had a great time.”

Willow & Birch also has joined downtown Chambersburg at 78 S. Main Street as a gift shop and home décor business. “We’re so happy to have Willow & Birch downtown where shoppers can find unique gifts that are hard to come by such as Fisher’s Popcorn and Keystone Candles. We love having them downtown,” Thrush said.

To learn more about Willow & Birch, check out their Facebook page, Willow & Birch or call 717-816-8814.“We have loved the outpour of support from our downtown community. They have all been so helpful. We also have seen growth with all the foot traffic downtown has brought into our shop. In only a few weeks, we can tell this is our ‘home’ and we can wait to see how the downtown area is going to grow our business,” Peters said.
