Children and their parents enjoyed a campfire and s’mores during an Institute StoryWalk

WAYNESBORO—Area families are invited to attend The Institute’s monthly StoryWalk® Sundays adventure for kids on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area.

Kids join a guided walk and activities along the story trail as they read a story book, then make a special craft project to take home. With cooler weather, everyone will warm up around a campfire and s’mores!

The featured storybook for December is “Bear Stays Up for Christmas,” by Karma Wilson, with illustrations by Jane Chapman.

“In this charming story, Bear’s friends create all sorts of tasks for Bear, to keep him awake for Christmas,” said Pam Rowland, The Institute’s education director. “He helps them find a Christmas tree, bakes goodies, decorates, and sings Christmas songs. Bear does manage to stay awake, and discovers that giving is the best Christmas present.”

The event is free, but pre-registration is required by Dec. 8. To register, email to: [email protected] or call 717-762-0373. Limited to 20 children.

Children in grades K–5 may be dropped off and picked up at 3 p.m. All families are welcome, but activities are geared for preschool and elementary age kids.
