CHAMBERSBURG– The Franklin County Commissioners, along with the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs, are pleased to announce the sixth annual Franklin County Veterans Affairs Golf Tournament raised a record $34,475.
The 2022 outing, held Sept. 2 at Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville, featured a tournament-high 256 participants playing on both Founders and Iron Forge courses. For the first time, participants of each winning team received a voucher for a five-day, four-night cruise for two. The tournament also received strong support from throughout the community, as 50 different organizations and businesses contributed event sponsorships at a variety of levels.
“We are so grateful to everyone who supports this tournament and Franklin County veterans year after year,” said Franklin County Commissioner Chairman Dave Keller. “The money raised through this event allows the county to say ‘thank you’ to our veterans by providing services and resources.”
Plans are underway for Franklin County Veterans Affairs’ seventh annual tournament, which will be held Sept. 1, 2023, at Penn National Golf Club. Registration will open in early January.
All proceeds from the golf tournament benefit the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Outreach Fund, which supports a variety of programs. Those programs are funded solely through community support and donations and include Operation Save-a-Vet Save-a-Pet, Operation Rucks to Reins and the annual We Salute You Scholarship, among others.
Donations to the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Outreach Fund can be made by dropping off or mailing a check, made payable to Franklin County Veterans Affairs, Attn: Outreach Fund, to the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Office at 425 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
