HARRISBURG—The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation advises motorists to be aware of construction projects beginning today:

Bridge Inspection Tomorrow and Next Week on SB I-83 (South) Bridge in Harrisburg

A bridge inspection is planned for today and next week on the southbound Interstate 83 John Harris Memorial (South) Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River between the City of Harrisburg in Dauphin County and Lemoyne Borough in Cumberland County.

Weather permitting, the inspection will be performed on the southbound I-83 side of the bridge  Thursday, Dec. 1, and Monday, Dec. 5, through Thursday, Dec. 8. There will be right lane closures from approximately 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones for their safety as well as for the safety of the road crews.

Sound wall repairs begin on I-81 northbound in Dauphin County

​Sound wall repairs are scheduled to begin Thursday, Dec. 1, along northbound Interstate 81 between the Interstate 83 split and Exit 72 (Paxtonia/Linglestown) in Dauphin County.

Work will be performed on or outside the right shoulder weekdays during daylight hours. All lanes of traffic will remain open. 

Motorists should drive with caution and be alert for workers and equipment operating near the roadway.

Deblin Inc., of Mechanicsburg is the contractor for this work. Repairs are expected to be completed in about four weeks.
