WAYNESBORO–The aroma of mouth-watering barbecue wafts in the air along Walnut Street, drawing customers to a new restaurant in Waynesboro.

The chef is Quinton McCollum, who has been operating B&B Bar B Que & Catering for the last three years. McCollum moved his take-away business from the parking lot of Water Works Car Wash on Main Street to his first brick and mortar, 114 Walnut St., Suite 5, about a month ago.

“The community has shown us love over these last few years and we really appreciate it, especially the opportunity of giving people jobs and being able to grow a relationship with my customers,” he noted.

McCollum lit the fire for this adventure with a hot dog cart on a “really cold” Black Friday in Chambersburg in 2010 and never looked back.

“We offer the southern style Virginia/North Carolina border taste – my heritage – backyard barbecue to the table,” said McCollum, who can be spotted roasting his meats in the parking lot outside the store.

B&B’s menu includes chicken, ribs, pulled pork, smoked sausage, pit beef, beef brisket and smoked turkey.

“Everything is homemade, from our sauce to our sides of candied yams, macaroni and cheese, beans, cole slaw, collard greens and cornbread muffins,” noted the culinary arts school grad.

Customers may opt to enjoy their barbecue as a sandwich or dinner, which is served with two sides. Meals for kids also are available. McCollum offers pre-ordered family packages that will serve a group of 4 to 16.

“We cater … whether it’s an office party, carnival, fair, wedding or anniversary … any event,” McCollum added.

B&B is open from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 717-830-1369 or 717-387-2904, email [email protected] or find them on Facebook and Instagram
