HARRISBURG – A $607,494 grant was awarded to Comcast Cable Communications LLC to help to expand broadband access to additional homes in Metal and Peters townships in Franklin County, according to Rep. John Hershey (R-Mifflin/Juniata/Franklin).

The Legislature created the Unserved High-Speed Broadband Funding Program to deploy broadband in unserved and underserved rural areas.

The funding for Comcast will be used to install additional wiring in northern Franklin County.

More than $10 million in statewide grants were awarded through UHSB, a Commonwealth Financing Authority program that facilitates deployment of middle-mile and last-mile high-speed broadband infrastructure in Pennsylvania.
