WASD lockdown lifted; police incident continues

WAYNESBORO–A lockdown at schools in the Waynesboro Area School District has been lifted.

The schools were ordered locked down by state and local police after a police incident, which began after 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The incident has ended at Ringgold Pike at Misty Meadow Road near Smithsburg, Maryland. State Police from Pennsylvania and Maryland are reportedly on the scene.

According to PSP, the area of Ringgold Pike at the Pennsylvania-Maryland line will be closed for an extended time and motorists should avoid the area.

There is no danger to the public at this time, according to police.
