WAYNESBORO—The Waynesboro Area School Board recognized student athletes Tuesday night during a board meeting.
Volleyball
The Varsity Volleyball team became Mid Penn Champions this year. “We had an outstanding season,” said Coach Kim Saunders.
Recognized were: Emily Channing, Jada Creager, Autumn Scahill, Slaydon Fisher, Allison Sawicki, Kiera Mouer, Abby McElroy, Hannah Knepper, Ashley Donald, Haven King and Madi Boltz.
Golf
“My team did finish undefeated 25-0,” said Coach Ryan Henderson. “I want to thank the Waynesboro Country Club. They donate their facility and we are so lucky. It’s phenomenal.”
Recognized were Mid Penn Champions: Eli Beck, Dylan Byers, Tyler Fortney, Ella Lowry, Brandon Monn and Evan Stein; District Qualifiers: Dylan Byers, Tyler Fortney and Ella Lowry; and State Qualifier Ella Lowry.
Boys Soccer
“This year has been a very challenging year,” said Coach Tom xxxxx. “The kids performed well. They played hard and I’m very proud of them.”
Recognized were First Team Mid Penn: Bryson Shaull; Second Team: Blake Carbaugh; and Honorable Mention: Andrew Soffe.
Girls Soccer
Recognized were: Second Team: Becca Cordell; Honorable Mention: Cam Witte and Nikki Davis.
“We really appreciate the recognition,” Coach Brian Fisher told the board.
Field Hockey
First Team: Presley Hanosek; Second Team: Chloe Smith and Alexis Thompson; Honorable Mention: Hope Freels.
Cheerleading
Recognized were: All-American Cheerleader: Belle Bakner, Sherbrya Benedict, Iyanna Burton, Carmyn Dominguez, Jasmine Frazer-Hewitt and Erin O’Connor.
Cross Country
Recognized were: Seniors: Isaac Moats, Paytin Moore, Joel Weber, Carys Cox, Cora Helman and Kayla Thompson; Juniors: Joey Jacobs, Kylie Bere, Madelyn Sheffler; Sophomore: Noah Bockstie, Will Campbell and Bella Ruefle; Freshmen: Camryn Bonner.
