Willie Cuyler was born on March 9, 1953, in Lake City, South Carolina, to Willie Cuyler and Mattie Emma Cuyler. His father preceded him in death. James Willie, by many of his family members, made a life-changing decision in the early 1970s to move to New York in search of new opportunities and experiences. Eventually settling in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Willie established his home and created lasting memories. In Chambersburg, Willie met his first wife, Norna Cuyler, in 1975, marking the beginning of their journey that lasted nearly three decades until 2004. Renowned for his strength, firm demeanor, and unwavering dedication to his family, Willie was a devoted father and a pillar of support to those around him. While Willie seldom attended his first wife’s family church, Central Presbyterian Church, Willie had a deep reverence for God and his faith. The arrival of their first son, Seth, on January 5, 1986, enriched Willie and Norna’s life together. Known fondly as James by many, Willie dedicated almost two decades of his professional life to Knouse Food, demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. After a chapter in Florida with his second wife, Catrice Hatcher, Willie returned to Chambersburg following their separation. During this time, he faced health challenges that required compassionate care from Raymond and Marie Johnson and unwavering support from his son, Seth Campbell. Willie also increased his attendance at Unity In Christ Church, showing a stronger commitment to his faith. Willie peacefully passed away on July 29, 2024, at the Pottstown Rehab Center, surrounded by loved ones. In his memory, Willie is survived by his devoted son, Seth Campbell, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his ex-wife from Philadelphia. Additionally, he is remembered by his loving siblings: – Edna Mae Cuyler (David Scott) – Patricia Ann Cuyler (Cleveland Wright) – Wilhelmina Diane Cuyler (James Gallant) – Willie Mae Cuyler (Kevin Evans) – Maria Francisca Cuyler – Leroy Cuyler Each of these individuals shares in the loss of Willie while also celebrating the impact he had on their lives and the lives of many others.
