Lucille M. Grant, 101, formerly of N.E. Miami FL, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Leland of Lauren Run, Waynesboro, PA.
Born April 16, 1923, in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Prince Albert and Ida (Stephens) Grant. They lived in Jamaica for much of her early life. She moved to Florida about 1972 and in 2022, she moved to Waynesboro and lived with her niece for a time.
After graduating from nursing school, Lucille worked for various hospitals in New York City. After moving to Miami she found her work home at North Shore Medical Center.
She had a strong faith and was very involved at her church, Holy Family Episcopal Church in Miami Gardens, FL. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed making many clothes for herself as well as for her nieces and nephews. She loved traveling and had the opportunity to go to the Mediterranean, Europe and the Caribbean. Lucille lived life to the fullest. She loved to cook and was a connoisseur of fine dining. She was an enthusiastic shopper who loved Macy’s and Nieman Marcus.
She is survived by her nieces Lorna Imani Gunderson and Nicolette Oza Plynton, nephew, Evan Lon Plynton; two great nephews; five great nieces; three great-great nephews; five great-great nieces; two great-great-great nephews and one great-great-great niece.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Ida Pearl Plynton and Grace Constance Anderson and a niece, Geraldine Plynton.
Services will be private, at the convenience of the family.
