WAYNESBORO—Two local businesspeople have been recognized for their contributions to the community. Dan DeDona has been named the 2022 Chamber Champion and Matt Gunder has been named the 2022 Roy S.F. Angle Businessperson of the Year by the Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Champion DeDona, a retired colonel from the U.S. Air Force, moved to Waynesboro in 1989. Franklin County MilitaryShare provides fresh, nutritious food once a month, free of charge, to Franklin County families with at least one member who has served, or is currently serving, in the armed forces. Distribution occurs on the first Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 425 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg. FAYETTEVILLE—It could be another dry year at Caledonia State Park if swimmers don’t step up to help out. The park is seeking summer lifeguards for the pool. “The is our last chance to get enough guards to run a normal season,” stated a post on the park’s social media page. Franklin County’s local unemployment rate dropped to 4% in the first quarter. The total number of jobs were up 2.4%, or more than 1,400 over the last 12-months as of March. Total jobs reached nearly 60,000. The statewide unemployment rate was reported to be 5.4%. The ever increasingly tight labor market has resulted in positive wage growth for local workers. HARRISBURG – With the one-year countdown beginning today for the federal enforcement of REAL ID for commercial domestic air travel and other federal purposes, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation joined the Transportation Safety Administration and Philadelphia International Airport officials to remind Pennsylvania residents who want REAL ID-compliant driver’s licenses and photo ID cards and have not yet gotten one to gather the needed documents now to ensure they leave plenty of time to get their REAL ID before the federal enforcement date.
