SMITHSBURG, MD—Three people were killed and two injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon, June 9, in Smithsburg. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called around 2:30 p.m. to Columbia Machine Inc., in the 12900 block of Bikle Road for a report of an active shooter. Officers and deputies from multiple agencies responded, with officers from the Smithsburg Police Department arriving on the scene first and locating an injured victim outside the business. HARRISBURG – Funding is available for interested parties in Franklin County to develop a sustainable agricultural plastics recycling program. The Agricultural Plastics Recycling Project is designed to assist Pennsylvania farmers to better manage their used agricultural plastics. “Agricultural plastics are often single-use items that serve a specific, initial purpose, but eventually become a waste product,” said Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. “Landfilling plastics is both an expense and an environmental hazard.
