Have some fun! The Fairview Elementary PTO sponsors the June Fair from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 10. There will be carnival games, vendors, food trucks, yard sale and more. Fire trucks will be on hand from 8 to 10 a.m.; Elsa from “Frozen” will appear from 10 to 11 a.m. and WPD K9 unit’s Bushta will visit from 11 a.m. to noon.

Enjoy a meal. The South Mountain Volunteer Fire Department will host a chicken barbecue Saturday, June 11, at the station, 11207 Loop Road, South Mountain. Meal include a half chicken, baked potato, baked beans, applesauce, roll and butter. Cost is $13. Pre-orders available by calling 717-749-5733. Meal served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

See shooting stars. The 2022 Annual Fireman’s Carnival continues through Saturday at the Fayetteville Fire Company, 101 W. Main St., Fayetteville, with Fireworks Saturday night.

Grab a good read. The Friends of Monterey Pass are hosting a book sale Saturday and Sunday, June 11-12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Monterey Pass Museum, 14325 Buchanan Trail East, Waynesboro.

Step into history. A living history encampment will be at Monterey Pass Battlefield this weekend. Visitors can get a glimpse of infantry life during the Civil War—explore their camps, interact with the men, and witness as they demonstrate the tools, tactics, and firepower of that era. The activity will include infantry drills, maneuvers and rifle demonstrations. Infantry drills will be held at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and noon.

The camp will be open to the public Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
