Self-hate is not how I’d recommend getting into shape, but it’s a method I’ve turned to over and over since I began running nearly 10 years ago. We’ve crossed over the halfway point of the season for the CFA Youth Football League and Keystone Youth Football and Cheerleading League, and remarkably, four teams from the Local.News coverage area have yet to taste defeat this fall. Chambersburg’s Peewee pushed its record to 4-0 in the CFA last weekend when it eked out a 13-6 victory over Red Land. The Hamilton Jaguars’ varsity and JV squads have been clubbing opponents in the KYFCL this season. The varsity team is 4-0, while the JVs are 5-0. Very few girls volleyball teams in District 3-3A have been able to dominate opponents like Bermudian Springs and Greencastle-Antrim have. Now, the Eagles and Blue Devils teams are set to face their toughest challenge of the season: Each other. The sibling rivalry between Franklin County’s Myers brothers — Fayetteville’s Cory and Chambersburg’s Craig — once again played out to a podium finish for both drivers at Path Valley Speedway last weekend. Cory Myers and Bret Cronrath started up front for Saturday’s 270 Sprints feature, but it was Myers and Craig Myers who were leading the race after one lap. The brothers held those positions for the entirety of the race, surviving two restarts en route to a 1-2 finish. HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Ty’Qwell Fauntleroy rushed for two TDs, but North Hagerstown fell to 0-3 after Friday’s 28-12 loss to Thomas Johnson. Only one team has been able to defeat the Greencastle-Antrim girls volleyball team this season. The Blue Devils avenged that loss weekend to win the Manheim Central Tournament. Facing Chambersburg in the championship bout, Greencastle prevailed by a 25-22 score to seize the tourney crown. The Trojans had previously defeated the Blue Devils 3-1 on Sept. 12. In boys soccer, North Hagerstown won both of its matches last week to improve to 4-0-1, tops in Washington County. Fairfield also went 2-0 last week to move up the YAIAA III standings.
