WAYNESBORO—The Borough of Waynesboro recently began work on its square renovation project. Cumberland Valley Tree Service has removed all the trees in the square—some are diseased, some are just being replaced. New trees of the same size will be planted at a later date. The work is part of the Downtown Street Lighting and Pedestrian Safety Project. Borough officials also plan to have electrical circuits in the tree squares so white lights can be placed on trees year-round and additional street lights will be added around the square. WAYNE HEIGHTS—Washington Township officials will close Buena Vista Drive between Monta Vista Drive and Amsterdam Road for “an extended period of time” beginning Nov. 1. The latest closure comes three years after the Board of Supervisors shut down Amsterdam Road between Old Mill Road and Buena Vista in the area of Shank’s Mill after discovering a box culvert that carries water from Red Run Creek to the mill race showed signs of collapse. The two homes located at 242 and 248 West Second Street next to Renaissance Place are blighted, code noncompliant and were purchased from the borough. WAYNE HEIGHTS–The Washington Township Board of supervisors will meet Monday night to discuss a variety of issues. The agenda includes a discussion on the permitting of horses in zones R-1 and R-2; the Renfrew Grist Mill; the Dennis Bingaman subdivision and the Franklin County Bridge Inspection program.
