A total of $2 million in funds for a new Waynesboro emergency services complex and for Chambersburg’s transformation of the former Central High School have been announced by Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33) and state Rep. Paul Schemel (R-Franklin) .

Learn and Work LLC has been awarded $1 million for its Live and Work at Central redevelopment project in Chambersburg. The work will transform the former Central High School property into modern, upscale residential units and corporate office space.

“The buildings in which students once learned math, literature, science and history will once again contribute to the future of this community with the completion of the Live and Work at Central redevelopment project,” said Mastriano.

Waynesboro Borough also received a $1 million grant, which will help with the construction costs of a new Waynesboro emergency services complex.

“This new facility will help meet the emergency service needs of the borough and the surrounding communities,” Mastriano said. “This complex, which will co-locate police, EMS and fire services, will not only ensure the continued availability of critical public health and safety services, but also support the ongoing borough revitalization efforts.”

Schemel said the Waynesboro facility has been a priority project for several years.
