If the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League serves as any indication, the future for soccer in Chambersburg is bright.
The Union Soccer Club, based in Chambersburg, crowned at least four CPYSL champions last weekend: The U10 boys Tornadoes, U12 boys United, U10 girls Wildfire and U13 girls Eclipse.
The Tornadoes breezed through CPYSL Division 4-White with a 6-1-1 record, while United was unbeaten in Division 1 at 6-0-2. On the girls side, the Wildfire dominated Division 3 with an 8-0 record, while the Eclipse posted a 6-0-2 mark to secure first place in Division 3-Red.
Another USC team, the U11 boys Vikings, currently lead Division 3-Red with a 6-1-1 mark, but will need to wait for the rest of the division’s games to play out to see if they’ll remain in that position.
The United Recreational Soccer League featured a local champion in Waynesboro, a team that posted a 6-0-2 record in the fifth- and sixth-grade Co-Ed Red Division.
Action is slated to resume in CPYSL this weekend, while the URSL will also be in action hosting its season-ending tournament.
