The postseason is about to kick off in Pennsylvania, and we’ve counted at least six Franklin County teams that have qualified for the District 3 dance.

Girls volleyball has the most local playoff entrants, as Chambersburg, Waynesboro, and Greencastle-Antrim will all be playing win-or-go-home contests this week. The girls soccer teams from Chambersbug and Greencastle will be competing at districts, as will the Waynesboro boys soccer team.

The individual postseason is already underway in Maryland, with local golfers and cross country runners taking center stage. South Hagerstown golfer Luke Leisinger shot an 81 to win the WCPS Golf Tournament last week, while the CMC Cross Country Championships, held at Boonsboro High School, were chock full of top peformers from the Local.News coverage area. North Hagerstown, behind Walker Mason’s winning time of 15:08, surged to first place in the “Spires” team standings. The Hubs’ Lauren Stine was also a winner on the girls side, cruising to victory in 17:19.

Smithsburg also shined at the CMC Championships, with Cora Gentzel (18:47) and Michael Wynkoop (15:11) registering wins in the “Gambrill” race. Gentzel guided the Leopards to a first-place team finish with 28 points.

Finally, it was a winning week for area girls flag football squads. Smithsburg and North Hagerstown surged to victories, while South Hagerstown joined the winner’s column for the first time this season with a 24-0 win over Williamsport.

Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the Local.News coverage area performed last week:
