Corporate America gave them experience.

Small town living offered this Waynesboro couple the opportunity to start a new business and invest in their new community.

Angeline Allaire and Tim Young are the new owners of HouseMaster, a residential property inspection business they operate from their home. HouseMaster is a franchised business company celebrating its 45th anniversary.

“Tim is an award-winning quality and process assurance specialist with over 20 years experience, and I am in operations and strategic growth with 15 years experience,” noted Allaire. “We relocated to Waynesboro from eastern Pennsylvania and aspired to go into business together. We found HouseMaster … it aligned with both of our strengths,” she added.

“Tim is head of inspections, and I manage all of our marketing and operations. We offer a unique approach to home inspections that includes identification, education and prioritization.

“As we grow, we plan to expand the team with assurance that all new members are trained and developed based on our commitment to superior customer experience, quality home inspections and strong community relationships,” Allaire said.

The new venture is going “incredibly well,” she added. “Our House Master franchise is a women-owned company in a male-dominated industry with the backing of a national franchise. We love that we are able to remain a small, local business.

“We support buyers and sellers with home inspections that empower the best home-buying decision. We also are expanding our work to partner with insurance companies,” Allaire explained. “For example, if you bypass a home inspection to have an offer accepted, the insurance company may require an inspection before they finalize the homeowner’s policy. It’s a new trend handled during the closing period and doesn’t impact the sale.”

Allaire said the company also recommends home inspections for owners even if they are not considering selling their home. “When was the last time your house had a physical? We offer multiple post-inspection bene fits, including access to an online portal for your home similar to ones offered by health professionals. You can go in and see ‘what’s due when’ just like a physical. It gives you the same monitoring and maintenance capability for your home.

“We’re excited about being part of the community, but more excited about meeting people than anything else,” Allaire said. “We joined the Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce and Cumberland Valley Business Association (of Chambersburg). We are prioritizing the investment of relationships in the community over the investment of expensive online marketing strategies.”
