Sit, stay and support our furry friends. The Antietam Humane Society will host the “Toast to Tails” event at Trigger’s Table & Taproom from 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27. This evening promises a delightful mix of food, drinks and entertainment, all aimed at supporting the homeless animals in the community. Guests can enjoy a dinner and dessert prepared by Trigger’s Table, along with two complimentary drink tickets and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages. The event will feature music and dancing. Tickets are priced at $50 per person and can be purchased at the shelter or online. Attendees can also look forward to a silent auction, a cash bar and opportunities to engage with dogs throughout the night.

Dance the day away. On Saturday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m., Allison-Antrim Museum in Greencastle, will host an afternoon of English Country Dancing in its German Bank Barn. The event will be instructed by Melanie Desmond, an 18th-century living-history interpreter and museum volunteer. English Country Dancing, which originated during the reign of Elizabeth I and reached peak popularity in the late 18th century, was enjoyed by all social classes and later influenced Irish, Scottish and American dance forms. The fee for the event is $5 per person, and participants are encouraged to wear comfortable, soft-soled shoes. No prior experience is necessary, and both singles and couples are welcome to attend this opportunity to learn common 18th-century dances.

Meet the author. Fort Ritchie Community Center on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. will host the speaker series featuring Karen Baum Gordon, author of “The Last Letter: A Ritchie Boy Story.” Karen, the daughter of Holocaust survivor Rudolf Baum, will share insights from her father’s remarkable journey and the impact of his experiences during World War II. Following her presentation, attendees can enjoy a social hour with light refreshments and a book signing starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at $15 per person or $25 for two, including catered refreshments and the opportunity to meet the author.

Support recovery. Join the 4th Annual Sober September event on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cowans Gap State Park, Pavilion 2, located at 6235 Aughwick Rd, Fort Loudon. This free family-friendly gathering celebrates individuals in recovery with a variety of activities including food, games and inspiring speakers. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community and promote awareness about recovery from addiction.

Get your groove on. The Kelly Bell Band is set to perform live at Main Street Park in Waynesboro, on Saturday, Sept. 28, starting at 6:30 p.m. This highly anticipated event promises an evening filled with exceptional music and a vibrant atmosphere, making it an ideal outing for families and friends. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the show comfortably. Tickets are priced at $10 when purchased in advance and $15 at the door, with food and beer available for purchase throughout the performance. The concert will take place at 25 E.
