Things won’t always go your way, but if you stay focused and keep on grinding, those breaks just might start to turn in your favor.

Such was the case for Keith Reed, the winner of the Pure Stocks feature at last weekend’s Hub City Nationals, hosted by Hagerstown Speedway.

Reed, from Hagerstown, took care of business in his heat race, but drew the No. 8 spot for the dash. He made no forward progress there, resulting in an eighth-starting position for the main event.

Reed regrouped and spent his time in the 24-lap feature chipping away at the leaders. He moved all the way up, but fell just short of victory with a runner-up finish. That’s when Reed caught his big break: Race winner Jason Wilkins failed a post-race technical inspection. The victory, and $2,444 winner’s purse, went to Reed. He was chased to the finish line by Hagerstown’s Blake Reed, who finished in fifth.

In the Semi Late Models feature, Dylan Rutherford blasted off for a $2,500 win over Hagerstown’s Brady Neff, who finished as the runner-up after starting in the 13th position. Greencastle’s Brian Booze was another big mover at Hagerstown, as he drove from eighth to third in the Crate Late Models feature, a race that was won by Kyle Hardy.

A trio of winners from the Local.News area emerged from Path Valley Speedway on Saturday. Greencastle driver DJ Myers won the Limited Late Models feature and Hagerstown’s Kameron Morral conquered the 600 Sprints, while the 270 Sprints race saw Chambersburg’s Craig Myers and Greencastle’s Bradyn Kuhn finish first and second, respectively.

Finally, at BAPS Motor Speedway, Greencastle driver Logan Jones piloted his ride to a fifth-place finish in an East Coast Legend Series race.

Below is a speedway-by-speedway, feature-by-feature look at how area drivers performed last weekend:
