CHAMBERSBURG – A new restaurant in Chambersburg is getting “amazing feedback” from its customers, owner Mindy Danzberger says.

In addition, Affinity Cafe “established regulars within the first couple weeks after we opened (July 16),” Danzberger said. “They really rave about the sandwiches and fresh-made bread.”

Located at 133 N. Main St., just over a block from the square, the cafe features sandwiches, flatbreads, salads, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, fresh baked goods and coffee.

Items in the bakery case are among the most popular, Danzberger added. “We can barely keep it filled. We fresh bake everything, every day.” The options change and can include pull-apart danish, scones and cupcakes, as well as gluten free and vegan options, she noted. “We also make our own breads that we use for the sandwiches.”

Danzberger chose the name Affinity “because the word kept resonating with me. I love the definition (kinship, harmony). It was just perfect.”

Danzberger’s staff includes Ashley Rothwell, Jerrica Coldsmith and Kierra Coutts. “They’re actually ex-employees of mine that followed me to my new venture,” added the new owner, who said she spent the last 21 years managing bars and restaurants in the area. “I always said I wanted something of my own … that meant something. I’ve dealt with everything from five-star dining to bar foods, and I wanted to go for more comfort foods. This is what more appeals to me.

“We plan on doing some events near Halloween – a Harry Potter themed week starting Tuesday, Oct. 29, through Sunday, Nov. 3, featuring bakery items and drinks related to the movie and books, and a pet costume contest, Oct. 26,” Danzberger said.

In addition to eat-in dining, Affinity also offers DoorDash and an online ordering portal for take outs. “And we have outdoor seating along the creek (Falling Spring Branch). We’re working on catering events,” she added. “The catering menu is done, and we started handing them out last week.”

Hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. For more information, people may call 717-753-3865 or visit Affinity Cafe on Facebook.
