FAIRFIELD – The Mid-Penn Colonial Division varsity golf match was in Adams County this past Thursday, Sept. 29, as Gettysburg was the host team at Gettysburg National Golf Course.

Nobody could keep up with Shippensburg. The Greyhounds had three of its four scorers place in the overall top five as Shippensburg coasted to an 18-stroke victory over runner-up Northern. It was the Polar Bears’ first loss of the season.

Northern still owns a comfortable lead in the division but is no longer undefeated. The 23-1 Bears are six matches ahead of second-place Shippensburg (17-7). Gettysburg placed third and is 16-8. Greencastle-Antrim tied Gettysburg with a score of 334.

Waynesboro (13-11) placed fifth with 336, followed by James Buchanan and Big Spring.

Tyler Fortney finished atop the leaderboard, nabbing medalist honors after carding a 68. Shippensburg’s Ben Horgos (72) and Kaydee Beckenbaugh (75) finished second and third, while Jack Johnson tied for fifth with Greencastle-Antrim’s Camden Eby with 78.

Landon Crable shot 83 for Waynesboro. The remaining two scorers were Rylan Nichols and Caiden Shacreaw.

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, Colonial Division golfers will play their next league match at Eagles Crossing Golf Club in Carlisle. Big Spring is the host team. The meet tees off at 2 p.m.
