The wait is nearly over.
The new ALDI at 1517 E. Main St. in Waynesboro (Wayne Heights Mall) is scheduled to open Thursday, Aug. 29.
A ribbon cutting is set for at 9 a.m., about 30 minutes before the store opens, according to its website. Construction on the 20,499 square foot store, located between Rite Aid and Dollar Tree, began last fall. Stores were demolished to make way for the project.
Customers should look for signs inside the store to scan the code and enter their details through Sept. 2 for a chance to win a $500 gift card.
The first 100 customers will receive a Golden Ticket handed out by an ALDI employee that could be worth up to $100, as well as a free eco-friendly bag filled with ALDI goodies.
ALDI employees also will distribute a free ALDI shopping tote (quantities are limited) to customers.
ALDI will donate $1,000 to a local Feeding America affiliate as part of the grand opening.
About ALDI:
In 1961, the Albrecht Family founded the world’s first discount grocery store in Germany. In 1976, the first ALDI store opened in Iowa. Today, with ALDI headquarters in Batavia, Ill., there are more than 2,000 stores across 36 states with more than 25,000 employees.
More than 90 percent of the store’s items are ALDI-exclusive products, including dairy and eggs, produce, meat and seafood, deli items, frozen foods, bakery and bread, snacks, breakfast cereals, pantry essentials, beverages, pet supplies, baby items, household items, personal care and seasonal products. The store also offers ALDI finds, items that are “here today, gone tomorrow.”
Curbside pickup will be available at the Waynesboro store.
