WAYNESBORO — The eighth annual Waynesboro Wizarding Weekend took place over the weekend, transforming downtown Waynesboro into a vibrant hub of magical activities. The event attracted numerous visitors eager to immerse themselves in enchantment.

The festivities kicked off with a lively night market Friday, featuring more than 25 vendors and live music from local artist Cameron Thomas. Attendees were greeted by a variety of attractions, including movie screenings at the Waynesboro Theatre, where fans enjoyed four Harry Potter films throughout the weekend.

One of the highlights of the event was the Harry Potter Pub Crawl, which ran from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday. This popular activity featured a costume contest, raffle prizes and visits to eight local bars, drawing a crowd of enthusiastic participants.

Borogon Alley buzzed with excitement, offering thousands of magical items just in time for the upcoming school semester. More than 30 vendors showcased their unique products, including specialty chocolates, handcrafted wands and wizarding supplies, ensuring that every budding witch and wizard found something special.

A special guest, actress Ellie Darcey-Alden, who portrayed Lily Evans in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” made an appearance, signing autographs and posing for photos with fans. Her presence added a unique touch to the weekend, delighting attendees of all ages.

Additional activities included a magical creatures scavenger hunt, high tea sessions at Tranquilatea Tea Room and various workshops, such as potion making and art classes. Local eateries participated by offering themed drinks and extended hours, adding to the overall experience for visitors.
