BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT- Saturday, July 20, the Blue Ridge Summit Free Library held its 48th annual Ice Cream Social and Book Sale, drawing crowds to the library grounds for a day of community engagement and fundraising. The event, which ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., featured an extensive book sale with over 4,000 titles available, along with audio books, DVDs, and music CDs. Visitors enjoyed a variety of activities, including a 5K Fun Run, fire truck rides for children, and live musical performances by the Wayne Band, singer-songwriter Mark DeRose, and local musician Rich Fehle. The event also showcased local vendors, a silent auction, and a White Elephant Sale. Ice cream from Sarah’s Creamery, featuring Penn State Creamery flavors, was a highlight of the social, with a portion of sales benefiting the library. The day culminated with the presentation of the Harvey Bridgers Award to a young library patron and the announcement of silent auction winners, all contributing to a successful fundraiser for the Blue Ridge Summit Free Library.
