WAYNESBORO— The 27th annual Chesapeake Bay-themed fundraiser supper, hosted by Buttonwood Nature Center, home of The Institute, is set for Friday, June 28 at the Waynesboro Country Club. The event begins with hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 p.m., when the silent auction begins. Cash bar available, featuring a signature cocktail created for the event. Dinner is at 6:45 p.m.

The menu reflects the Chesapeake Bay theme, and includes hardshell crabs, steamed clams, Assateague clam chowder, mixed greens salad, Landlubbers fried chicken, Old Bay shrimp, Skipjack pasta salad, dinner rolls, and dessert.

Live and silent auctions highlight the event, with auctioneers Kaleb and Jacob Hurley.

“There is always something for everyone at both our silent and live auctions,” said Jessica Watson, Buttonwood’s assistant director. “This year is no exception with experiences, antiques, collectibles, paintings, quilts and gift baskets.”

The live auction features unique items and experiences, such as a tulip-themed handcrafted quilt, a luxurious weekend getaway in Deep Creek, a private flight, and more.

New this year, the $20 fee to play the popular “Heads n’ Tails” game is included in the ticket price.

Proceeds from the event benefit Buttonwood Nature Center, home of The Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides programming in environmental education and cultural history for area school children, plus workshops, lectures, programs and community events for all ages.

Tickets are $100 per person, or $115 per person for patrons. Patrons are listed in the event program. Register for the Bay Supper online at www.buttonwoodnaturecenter.org. For more information, call 717-762-0373, or email to: [email protected].

“There is also a Bay Supper To-Go meal option available for $75 to support the event if you can’t attend,” Watson said.

Underwriting for this event is provided by “Blue Crab” Lead Sponsor, Blue Ridge Risk Partners on behalf of Craig, Friedly, Potter and Moore Insurance; “Landlubber” Sponsor, FirstEnergy Foundation; and by Clam Shucker Sponsor, Melissa Graham and family in memory of Steve Graham.
