WAYNESBORO – The Eighth Annual Mason-Dixon Appalachian Trail Outdoor Festival was held Saturday at Red Run Park, celebrating the great outdoors with music, activities, vendors and outdoor education.

The free event, organized by the local Appalachian Trail Community, provided opportunities for attendees to learn about the Appalachian Trail in the area. Live music performances included Mountain Air, Trail Troubadours and bluegrass band Shade Tree Collective.

Visitors participated in free yoga sessions, viewed adoptable pets from the Antietam Humane Society and enjoyed food from vendors like Antietam Dairy ice cream and Cracken’ Catering’s Cajun dishes. Children’s activities included crafts, seed planting, train rides and water safety awareness.

Outdoor exhibits featured rock and mineral displays, bird watching with the Conococheague Audubon, and stream sampling with the Institute’s Water Striders group. Artisans sold items like wooden toys, slate art and native plants to benefit trail donations.

Hikers explored displays from trail groups and gathered information from organizations like Penn State/Mont Alto. The festival celebrated nature for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike.
