Last Meeting’s Program (4.30.24 bulletin)

Ed Herald, board chairman of the Waynesboro Community and Human Services, outlined the programs the charitable group provides for the Waynesboro and Greencastle areas. The organization, which traces its roots back to 1931, is set up to provide basic “neighbors helping neighbors” human services for those in need of them. Human services provided $175,000 in financial aid and supplied 105,000 pounds of food to those in need last year, Herald said. In addition, 9,439 bags of food were provided to needy students through the organization’s “backpack” program. Other programs provided 1,837 visits by community nurses, a clothing bank utilized by 775 households, diapers and wipes for 112 households, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and much more. Donations come from a variety of businesses, churches, charitable groups, and individuals. Human Services is currently seeking to relocate from its site at 123 Walnut St.
