The Greencastle-Antrim and Chambersburg boys basketball teams are each one win away from berths in their respective PIAA District 3 championship games.
The Blue Devils, seeded No. 4 in the 5A tournament, took care of business last week with wins over No. 13 Lower Dauphin (58-45) on Monday and No. 5 Manheim Central (49-45) on Thurdsay. Greencastle-Antrim will now lock horns with No. 1 Hershey in a semifinal game on Monday.
As for the Trojans, seeded No. 4 in 6A, Chambersburg opened its tournament in the quarterfinal round on Friday with a 53-39 win over No. 5 Central Dauphin. Chambersburg will face No. 8 Red Lion in a semifinal game on Tuesday.
In Maryland, the MPSSAA postseason begins this week and all teams from the Local.News area — Smithsburg, North Hagerstown, and South Hagerstown — will be represented at both the boys and girls tournaments.
Finally, in the world of wrestling, Chambersburg’s Aiden Hight (215 pounds) was the lone local champion and state qualifier at last weekend’s District 3-3A Championships at Spring Grove.
