ELLIOTTSBURG – It took a while for the engine to start working, but the Waynesboro Indians varsity basketball team left West Perry High School with a 46-36 win in their Mid-Penn Colonial Division game on Friday night.

The win was the Tribe’s second this season against West Perry. Waynesboro beat the Mustangs in Waynesboro back on Dec. 12 by the score of 49-33.

Junior guard Farin Parks accounted for 17 of Waynesboro’s points. Inside man Alex Torbica was close behind with 13 points. Torbica also had eight rebounds, while Parks had seven boards.

West Perry led 10- after the first quarter. However, Waynesboro caught up and passed the Mustangs to take a 22-19 lead at halftime. The Indians outscored West Perry 24-17 in the second half to preserve their fifth win of the season.

Waynesboro will play two home games this week. On Tuesday, the Indians play Northern York. Friday is the annual Pack the House Night when Waynesboro faces Big Spring.
