The Waynesboro Maidens varsity basketball team won both games this week inside the Waynesboro Area Senior High School gymnasium;.
Waynesboro, playing under the direction and leadership of new head coach Tyler Stoner, defeated Gettysburg 51-28 on Wednesday and beat Shippensburg 57-48 on Friday. Both games were Mid-Penn Colonial Division contests and improved the Maidens record to 7-5. It was also Waynesboro’s fourth straight win with a matchup at Greencastle-Antrim on the horizon for Tuesday.
Waynesboro sprinted to an 18-6 lead over Shippensburg after the first quarter. The Greyhounds cut into the lead and trailed 25-22 at halftime. The Maidens outscored Shippensburg 18-11 in the third quarter and maintained the lead throughout the fourth quarter.
Breanna McIlquham and Nikki Davis combined to score 30 points for Waynesboro, with McIlquham leading the way with 16 points.
McIlquham and Davis each scored 15 points in Tuesday’s decisive win over Gettysburg.
