Hagerstown Fire Crews Battle Blaze, Rescue Residents in 4-Unit Apartment Fire

HAGERSTOWN, MD – In response to a devastating fire incident, public safety agencies swiftly mobilized to address the emergency at 25609 Military Road, a 4-unit apartment building. The incident, reported at 18:19 hrs. (6:19 pm) on Friday, Jan. 5, initiated a coordinated effort to rescue occupants trapped on the 2nd floor and combat the intense blaze that engulfed the structure.

Upon arrival, initial fire crews encountered a challenging scenario with heavy fire showing on both the first and second floors. Two victims were successfully removed from the burning structure, with one adult airlifted to Medstar via aviation and the second individual transported to Meritus Medical Center by ambulance. The current conditions of the victims remain unknown, pending further evaluation.

Public safety units from Washington, Franklin, Frederick, and Adams County were urgently dispatched to the scene. A total of 70 firefighters, representing a collaborative regional response, were present to address the incident and mitigate the impact on the affected community.
