Mandy Hood is the Executive Director of “Connections”, an organization that fosters and promotes opportunities for women to meet, connect, share, and communicate. Mandy noted the Surgeon General recently issued a finding noting that loneliness, isolation, and the lack of communication can cause a 29% increase in heart attacks, a 32% increase in strokes and, in older people, a 50% increase in dementia. “Connections” was formed seven years ago to provide women an opportunity to meet and discuss and share among themselves. In addition, “Connections” began a Facebook page for widows with over 300 subscribers and their general Facebook page with over 1400 followers.
