CHAMBERSBURG– Current ninth-grade students throughout Franklin County are invited to apply for the Leadership Franklin County Youth class of 2024-2025 hosted by the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation.

The LFC Youth program is a ten-month leadership training course where incoming sophomore high school students gain leadership skills, learn more about the community and find ways to serve others. The program’s curriculum is based on “The Five Practices of Exemplary Student Leadership” and focuses on career exploration, diversity and inclusion, service learning and public speaking.

LFC Youth was founded in 2009 with the mission “to create a community of young people who are actively engaged in responsible, ethical and effective leadership.” The program offers a valuable opportunity to students of any school in Franklin County, including home school, and is available at no cost to students thanks to Wilson College’s sponsorship.

“Our program offers students the opportunity to grow their individual leadership skills, learn about their community and understand the benefits of team-building,” said Virginia Harriger, executive director of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation. “Each year we bring students together from all over the county and create an environment of trust, collaboration and mentorship.  We are appreciative of Wilson College and their continued commitment to building student leaders.”

The competitive selection process requires two reference letters with the student’s application followed by an interview. Applications must be received by February 2, 2024. Learn more at a free virtual information session on Tuesday November 28, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. To register, visit CVBAlliance.org/Events.
