On this night of ghouls and goblins, let’s all work together to keep our community safe.

If you’re handing out candy, turn on your porch light and drive a little slower. Parents, be sure to check your children’s candy before they eat it.

Here are some additional Halloween safety tips:

  • Trick-or-treaters:
    • Stay in well-lit areas and walk in groups.
    • Only approach houses with porch lights on.
    • Be careful crossing streets and watch out for traffic.
    • Don’t eat candy until it has been inspected by a parent or trusted adult.
  • Parents:
    • Accompany young children while trick-or-treating.
    • Make sure your child’s costume is fire-retardant and doesn’t obstruct their vision.
    • Inspect all candy before your child eats it.
    • Remove any choking hazards, such as hard candy or small toys, from your child’s candy bag.
  • Drivers:
    • Be extra cautious on Halloween night, especially in areas where trick-or-treaters are likely to be present.
    • Drive slowly and yield to pedestrians.
    • Be aware of your surroundings and watch out for children darting into the street.

On this night of magic and mischief, let’s all cast a spell of safety. Let’s ward off the evil spirits of traffic accidents and candy poisoning. Let’s summon the good spirits of kindness and caution. Together, we can create a Halloween that is both fun and frighteningly safe.
