WAYNESBORO- The Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library in Pennsylvania was awarded the 2023 Financial Literacy Award of the Year by the PA Forward(R) Literacies Team for its Plan Today for Tomorrow program. The award was announced at the Pennsylvania Library Association’s Conference on Oct. 3.

The PA Forward(R) Literacies Team reviewed many submissions and selected the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library based on the extent to which the program focused on financial literacy, the extent to which the program attempted to meet the community’s need in a creative way, the extent to which the program took advantage of available resources, and the extent to which the program raised the stature of the library in the local community.

The Plan Today for Tomorrow program offers a variety of financial literacy resources and programs to the community, including one-on-one counseling, workshops, and online resources. The program is designed to help people of all ages improve their financial knowledge and skills.

In addition to the Financial Literacy Award of the Year, the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library also qualified for recertification in the Gold Star Program. This marks the library’s third year for Gold Star certification.

The library staff will be celebrating both of these awards on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. in the library’s community room. The public is invited to attend.
