WAYNESBORO- The Waynesboro Area Business, Education, and Community (WABEC) Foundation recently announced several mini grants for the Waynesboro Area School District.
The WASHS Writing Club utilized several of the new materials that were supplied by the WABEC Writing Enrichment Grant. The new Writing Club started this year with over 40 members attending the first meeting. Gabby Strasser, a senior who took both Creative Writing 1 and Creative Writing 2, founded the club. The club hopes to provide a place for creative writers to continue to foster their skills through games and exercises. The club will hold after-school Coffee Houses where writers can sign up to share excerpts from their writing for feedback and encouragement. At their last meeting, the club used several of the new writing games provided through the grant.
Writing tablets were also purchased with the funds from the WABEC mini-grant and students started implementing them right away. Students are thrilled to be able to have an option other than a mouse or a trackpad to draw and annotate where appropriate on assignments. They have been fully integrated into a Burial Site Analysis and Who’s Who in Archaeology assignments.
